Description:
Small laughingthrush, streaky-brown and grey with dull rufous ear-coverts. Has fine dark streaking on crown and nape, and has greyish cast to crown and nape, rufous ear-coverts. Fine white streaking on mantle and underparts, and grey-tipped olive-brown tail with diffuse black subterminal band on outer feathers.
Distribution:
Common resident in all the relatively lower valleys of Gilgit-Baltistan. Found in hillside scrub, bushes in open forest, forest edge, hill or ravine slopes, stone walls near cultivation and also around human habitations, from 1200m to 3900m.
Behavior:
Keeps to ground. A garden bird in towns and villages, feeding in open, as well as under bushes. Found in pairs or in small parties, depending on season. Diet mostly consists of insects, including moths and caterpillars, small flies, and ants; also spiders. Also feeds on berries, fruits and seeds; occasionally breadcrumbs.
